Diving and Fishing

The Solomon Islands are a diver’s paradise. Divers will experience an extraordinary array of differing structures and bio-assemblage; including shallow and deep coral gardens with magnificent drop-offs, ledges and gutters, sharks, all manner of light game fish, and an enormous range of reef fish. Turtles and mantas and eagle rays are common sights, as are friendly Hammerheads.

Solomon Islands diving has an enviable world-wide reputation that’s unsurpassed. Throughout these magic islands are an endless variety of dive sites to suit all tastes and levels of experience. Several dive operators provide professional services to experienced divers and beginners.

The waters of the Solomon Islands are also renowned for big game, reef, wreck, beach and estuary fishing. The action is unparalleled and the waters are virtually unspoiled by commercial fishing. Sport fishermen can troll along the sheer drop-offs for Spanish mackerel, wahoo, and dog-tooth tuna or cast into the surf for giant trevally, red bass, and coral trout. The serious game fishermen can pursue Pacific sailfish, blue, black and striped marlin, and yellow fin tuna. In the quiet jungle rivers you can catch mangrove jack, estuary cods, brassy trevally, and spot tail bass. Several tour operators offer fishing trips and boat charters.
